Veterinarians
Dr. Catherine Mabe, DVM
Dr. Catherine Mabe graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Upon graduation she practiced veterinary medicine for two years in Bethesda, MD. Then in 1988, Dr. Mabe returned to her native city of Chattanooga to become an associate of Dr. Charles Byles at Lakeside Veterinary Clinic. Following Dr. Byles’ retirement in 1994, Dr. Mabe and Dr. Bearden became partners in purchasing Lakeside Veterinary Clinic, which has now been renamed Shallowford Animal Hospital. Dr Mabe’s personal belief is that “our pets enrich our lives immeasurably, and deserve all the love, attention, and care of which we are capable.”
Dr. Troy Bearden, DVM
Dr. Troy Bearden is a graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, class of 1987. For several years following graduation, Dr. Bearden practiced veterinary medicine as an associate for local veterinary hospitals in Chattanooga. In 1989, he established Mobile Animal Care, a house-call practice for dogs and cats. In addition to making house calls, he also provided relief veterinary services for many Chattanooga veterinary hospitals. In 1994, Dr. Bearden and Dr. Mabe purchased Lakeside Veterinary Clinic, now renamed Shallowford Animal Hospital. “I have loved animals for as long as I can remember. With the gifts God has given me, I am able to express that love by healing the wounds and relieving the suffering of his creatures. I can think of no more satisfying way to live my life.”
